Heavenly Altered Wooden Book Box~

I don't know about you, but I just love a sweet spot to tuck in treasures and momentos, and one of these little altered wooden boxes are so perfect, with the hidden slide out drawer, it makes stashing secrets so beautiful!!

I created the following using the June Scraps Of Elegance Kit~Stephanie's Treasure:

I started with the wooden box with the hidden drawer and painted it in Dina Wakley Gesso to seal it and get it primed for all my techniques and layers.

On the front of the box, I layered in layers of distressed papers from the kit, and added some Reneabouquets Sheer Romance Lace at the bottom.

I tucked in a piece that I tore off one of the large flowers from the Floral Add On, and then painted one of the little chipboard frames from the kit and added on some of the Prills from the Embellishment Add On. I then added my sweet photo. The photo was one that I purchased from Etsy Digital Artist- Ireland Rose's Nostalgia. Her images are wonderful and very high quality. I use them in my work often. I can digitally alter a lot my own images, but I love supporting other artists as well.

In the top right hand corner I added a Prima Heart Resins dusted with the Prills, and some of the smaller flowers from the kit.

At the bottom corner, I added on some fuzzy trim from my stash, the large flower from the Floral Add On that I tore the bottom piece from , a small flower from the kit and a Reneabouquets Camellia Flowers in Ivory. I topped off the look with a set of 2 of my Reneabouquets Tiny Treasures Lavender Dreams Butterflies

I then coated the sides and the back with Prima Platinum Crackle Texture Paste, letting it air dry for a deeper crackle and then inking over the texture to bring out the crackle even more.

On the "binding" side of the book box, which is actually a pull out drawer, I inked and added on some Reneabouquets Butterfly Lace, then created a drawer pull out of a bobbin mounted onto a small Prima Oval Frame Resins and topped with a Reneabouquets Princess Rhinestone Button.

On the back side of the box I rubbed on some of the TH Rub Ons from the kit, and then went over the back with the Dina Wakley Gesso just to soften it up a bit and then inked over it to bring out the crackle.

I hope you have a wonderful 4th Of July weekend, and hopefully find lots of time for family and friends!! Make lots of memories and then create some sweet spots filled with them. Hugs ~Renea
