Scraps Of Darkness Reveals The May Kit~Twisted & Tangled!

I love this time of the month!! The 25th of each month, the Scraps Of Darkness Kits reveal, and the May Kit~Twisted & Tangled has just hit the scene!!

The following is the super Yummy sketch created by our super talented sketch artist~Suepup:

And this is my take on the sketch, featuring a photo of my son that I took last Summer at one of our FAV places to go hiking, Greenway Farms. We love to grab our little dog Jack and head out for a day of hiking through the gorgeous trails, and down into the rock quarry.

I layered in lots of paper layers that I distress, inked, tore, water distressed, stamped and splatter painted.

I did some lacing with black yarn, puff embossed some stash chain link chipboard, and layered in wire circles and some of the Prima Metal pieces from the kit.

At the top you can see a close up of the wire circles, and metal tags.
The Grunged Up Gears in the Heavy Metal Finish are from my Reneabouquets Etsy Shop.

Here you can see a close up off all the texture created from the stamping, splatter painting, and puff embossing.

And here you can see all the dimension the layering created.

And here is a layout that features a photo of our friend's daughter Maddie. I just love to go girlie grunge and the elements in this kit were perfect for it!

I did lots of layering, inking distressing, stenciling with mists, and stippling.

I did some subtle stenciling with the stencil from the kit and some Lindy's Mist, then I stippled randomly with the Shimmerz in the kit and added the super cool mosaic squares that were in the kit as well.

I painted the "Dreams & Wishes" chipboard from the kit, then stippled it with the Shimmerz from the kit and added some stash bling then layered it onto the cheesecloth that came with the kit as well. The silver and small purple flowers were from the Floral Add On, and the Lavender Ice Butterflies are from my Reneabouquets Etsy Shop.

I used some more of the kit cheesecloth then layered on some stash flowers and one from the floral add on.

Here you can see the dimension and textures on this layout. That is one thing I love about the Scraps Of Darkness Kits is all the elements that come together so beautifully to pull of lots of texture and dimension!!

Thanks for the visit and I hope you are having a wonderful weekend and that you find the time to create something beautiful for yourself! Hugs ~Renea

Seashore Memories Book Box~Scraps Of Elegance May Kit-Cape May Holiday

Today, I have an altered book box that I would like to share with you!! I created it with the Scraps Of Elegance May Kit~Cape May Holiday. I wanted to create a place that one could store some of their memories, photos and small trinkets, and the book boxes are so perfect for just that. They are not only perfect for home decor, but they are functional as well.

I started with a paper mache book box that I stained using walnut stain, and then layered up the front with distressed and inked papers, as well as some fussy cut pieces all from this month's kit papers and paper add on. I added in lots of texture with cheesecloth from the kit, pieces from the Embellishment add on, burlap, seashells, seed beads, and sand paste from my stash as well as some Tresors De Luxe Lace. The flowers were from the Floral Add On, and the Sweet Memories Glitter Glass Butterflies are from my Reneabouquets Etsy Shop.

Here you can see the modeling paste technique that I used to replicate "pages" and all the staining and inking I did to give the look of an aged book.

The "binding" is covered in inked, Tim Holtz Tissue Tape.

The back has layers of inked and distressed papers.

And the inside was walnut ink stained and then misted to match the outside colors.

Thank you for dropping by and letting me share one of my projects with you! It has been a busy time at my house with my son graduating this next week and all the social and family events that go with that Senior Year, so thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to leave your sweetness for me! Hugs ~Renea

Collecting Vacation Memories With The Scraps Of Elegance May Kit~Cape May Holiday

Creating with the Scraps Of Elegance May Kit~Cape May Holiday has been such a Seaside Dream!!
I just love all the wonderful Prima and 7 Gypsies Elements to this kit, and they were perfect for putting together this Shabby meets Cottage Chic Mini Album:

I covered a chipboard album with distressed canvas and then layered in distressed and sand paste painted Prima paper from the kit.

I then layered in a Tim Holtz Clock that I die cut and distress painted, and then broke pieces of balsa wood to create a wood background and layered on the stash sentiment. The cheesecloth, Reneabouquets Butterflies, and sail boat were from the kit, the capiz shells and trim were from the Embellishment Add On, and the teal flowers were from the Floral Add On. I added in French Script Texture Roses from my Etsy Shop as well as a real shell, turtle charm and glass bottle with hand tinted glitter glass from my stash.

Here you can see all the trims, textures and dimension of my album.

The first page features a pocket with 3 double sided tags and journal spot, a Prima Ticket attached with a Tim Holtz  Metal Clip, and textured trims, a sea shell and nautical button.
The Secon Page Features a spot for journaling or small photos, a Tim Holtz chain and clip, some sweet Prima and Petaloo flowers, and a tuck in pocket with a double sided 7 Gypsies Journal Card.

Here you can see all the tuck in pieces.

The 3rd Page features burlap photo spots, a real sea shell, some Tim Holtz Brads topped with Prima Crystals and wrapped with twine, and Prima ticket tuck ins.
The 4th Page Featurs a photo spot, a small burlap pocket with lots of sweet tuck ins, and the page is actually sewn to open up into a pocket where you can add treasures, momentos, small photos, and journaling.
There is a fussy cut globe hang tag as well.

The 5th Page features a photo spot, cheesecloth and a Petaloo flower.
The 6th Page features a journal spot and photo spot, more cheesecloth and flower.
There is a fussy cut fish piece that I turned into a hang tag as well.

The 7th Page features a hand sewn  6 page bookelet, trim, and little paper rolls that have been distressed and inked, tied together with brown rope trim then topped with a tiny seashell, and sea turtle charm.
The 8th Page features a burlap pocket with 2 double sided tuck ins, and a little Prima clothes pin for hanging photos or journaling.

Here you can see all the tuck ins and sewn booklet.

And here is the back of my album finished out in canvas and Prima paper.

If you are dreaming of vacation days on the beach, or just need to scrap some of those past beach memories, then this kit is the perfect one to help you achieve that goal!! Thank you for taking a walk with me along the shore, now I have to get back to the real world, and do some cooking and cleaning-lol!  Until next time! Hugs ~Renea

Scraps Of Elegance Reveals The May Kit~Cape May Holiday

Our Cape May Holiday kit features the gorgeous, brand new Seashore collection from Prima! Whether you are looking for the perfect papers and embellishments to preserve your treasured tropical vacation memories, or are just dreaming of the lovely beach days that will soon be here, our May kit is the perfect find!

Don't you just love the beautiful sketch by Charlotte (Suepup) created just for the May Kit?

Here is my take on the sketch and it features a photo of my son, Draven when he was around 6 on the Beach in West Palm Beach Florida showing off a seashell that he had found. This kit was just perfect for capturing the beach feel and for perserving one of those sweet memories.

I did lots of layering, and distressing, and then added in textures like the cheesecloth from the kit, edge painting with texture sand , stenciling with the checker plate stencil in the Embellishment add on,  burlap, hemp rope and seashells. I cut the diamonds from some of the paper in the Paper Add On, and added some of the Prima Crystals from the EAO for accents. The Seahorse was fussy cut from one of the papers as well.

I tucked in some of the tickets behind the photo layers, and a tag from the Kit behind a peek a boo, cut out a small sea horse, and added flowrs from the kit and Floral Add On.
The Secret Garden Butterflies  are from my Reneabouquets Etsy Shop.

Here you can see some of the textures and and dimension.

I just love the colors and pieces for layering in this kit~so delicious!!

Oh the sound of the ocean is calling me, and this kit will have your imagination walking through the sand, collecting treasures, and dreaming of moments past! I hope you have enjoyed a look at one of my sweet memories! Hugs ~Renea
