Mother's Day Duo Gift Card Holder and Favor Bag

Mother's Day is not that far away, so I wanted to create something unique and wonderful that might inspire you to create something beautiful for your own Mother, for her special day. I used some papers and embellishments from a past Scraps of Darkness Kit-Victoriana to create these pieces, and lots of goodies from The Rubber Cafe.

For the Favor Bag, I took a piece of 6 x6 square burlap and folded it in and hot glued it to form a pocket. I then pulled some of the threads to give it a nice fringed edging and stained the edges with
some Tim Holtz Rusty Hinge Stain.

I then took a piece of Prima Printery Paper, cut it into a strip to fit around the bag, and stamped it with the postcard stamp from The Rubber Cafe Vintage Treasures Stamps. I then stained the edges with Tim Holtz Broken China and Wild Honey Stains. I then tied a piece of hemp rope around the band to add interest. Next I cut another piece of Prima Printery Paper using a Spellbinders Parisian Accents Die, and inked the edges with the Wild Honey Stain and then popped in a Vintage Brad. I fussy cut a spoon from the Prima paper and then stained it with the same Tim Holtz Broken China and Wild Honey Stains.

I then took the Large Daisy Stamp from The Rubber Cafe and stamped two images, onto some of the printed Prima paper using Tim Holtz Wild Honey Ink and then fussy cut the flowers out and stacked them together and then added seed beads to the center with some Scrap Happy Glue and the Stick Em' Up tool to place all those tiny little beads into place. I then cut a piece of Kaisercraft Madame Boutique paper to fit the pocket and punched the top and stained the edges, and tucked it into the pocket for color and visual interest. You now have a sweet Vintage look favor bag that you can tuck tea bags, candy, jewelry or any small treat that you wish to put a smile on your Mom's face.

For the card I took a piece of the Prima Printery paper and stamped it using the same postcard stamp from The Rubber Cafe Vintage Treasures Stamps. I then stained the edges with Tim Holtz Broken China and Wild Honey Stains, layered on a piece of burlap, pulling some of the threads to give it a nice fringed edging and stained the edges with some Tim Holtz Rusty Hinge Stain.  I used a piece of Really Reasonable Emily White Crochet trim that I spritzed with Tattered Angels Coffee Bean Mist to get the color I wanted, then took a piece of Kaisercraft Madame Boutique paper that matched the paper on the favor bag and punched the top and the bottom, distressed and stained the sides and layered it on the burlap. The little tea pot is a Prima Resistable Canvas piece that I misted with the Tattered Angels Coffee Bean Mist to match the trim, then I attached a Vintage Brad to match the one on the Favor Bag. I created a sentiment tag and the adhered Pearl Jellie Dots to it for interest.

For the back of the card, I just folded the bottom portion of the card over, stamped it using the same postcard stamp from The Rubber Cafe Vintage Treasures Stamps,  and inked the edges to match the rest of the card. I ran Scrap Happy Glue down the side edges, leaving the middle loose so that you can tuck a gift card or tag with a sentiment into it.

There you have it, a beautiful set that is sure to please any Mom, because it was made from your heart and hands.  I hope this inspires you to make something creative and beautiful for someone special in your life! ~Renea
