Seashore Memories Book Box~Scraps Of Elegance May Kit-Cape May Holiday

Today, I have an altered book box that I would like to share with you!! I created it with the Scraps Of Elegance May Kit~Cape May Holiday. I wanted to create a place that one could store some of their memories, photos and small trinkets, and the book boxes are so perfect for just that. They are not only perfect for home decor, but they are functional as well.

I started with a paper mache book box that I stained using walnut stain, and then layered up the front with distressed and inked papers, as well as some fussy cut pieces all from this month's kit papers and paper add on. I added in lots of texture with cheesecloth from the kit, pieces from the Embellishment add on, burlap, seashells, seed beads, and sand paste from my stash as well as some Tresors De Luxe Lace. The flowers were from the Floral Add On, and the Sweet Memories Glitter Glass Butterflies are from my Reneabouquets Etsy Shop.

Here you can see the modeling paste technique that I used to replicate "pages" and all the staining and inking I did to give the look of an aged book.

The "binding" is covered in inked, Tim Holtz Tissue Tape.

The back has layers of inked and distressed papers.

And the inside was walnut ink stained and then misted to match the outside colors.

Thank you for dropping by and letting me share one of my projects with you! It has been a busy time at my house with my son graduating this next week and all the social and family events that go with that Senior Year, so thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to leave your sweetness for me! Hugs ~Renea
