Oh I can tell it is a Monday!! I so didn't want to get in gear today-lol! The only thing good about today is that I have a layout to share with you that I created for the Once Upon A Sketch October Challenge using the super gorgeous Scraps Of Darkness-October Kit-Mortica's Wish. The challenge was to use their sketch, with some type of journaling (hidden or seen), along with the following journaling as inspiration:
I used a photo of some of our friends, daughter, Maddie (with her mom's permission-of course) to create the layout, and focused the layout around this sentiment "If Pictures Could Talk" that was inspired from the above journaling, and I have a pull out tag to house my hidden journaling. Maddie has been singing, since she was a little girl. It has always been such a shock to see this tiny, little, petite girl, open up her mouth and hear this big ole, country voice come out of her. Her parents have always supported and helped her to chase her dream, and they just recently moved to Nashville, to try to give Maddie a chance at making it in the music scene. I know how hard that dream can be on someone, and I wish Maddie and her family nothing but the best of luck!!
The top flower layer consists of the burlap flowers from the kit, the cloth flowers(that I misted and then added centers from a past kit to) and leaves from the Flora & Fauna Add On, a ScrapMatts chipboard clock and a paper bloom from a past kit.
Here I took a leftover canvas page from the mini album (in this month's Creativity Kit) that I created and wove a piece of the burlap trim from this month's Embellishment add on into the eyelets.
I then created a chipboard tag, painted it with gesso, and added a piece of the kit paper, a sticker tag from the kit, and then heavily inked all the edges and added some leftover burlap frays for the tag pull. The tag tucks into the canvas pocket, so perfect for hidden journaling.
The bottom corner piece was created just like the top piece, just with a large Tim Holtz Weathered clock piece and hands. You can also see her where I puddled seed beads to get that grungy texture that I love so much.
I had so much fun playing along with the OUAS challenge and I love how versatile this month's kit was. I had created a lot of Halloween projects for reveal, and this layout shows how you can also get something feminine, and yummy from the kit.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great week! Don't forget to do something fun and creative along the way!! ~Renea

I started it with a layer of Carta Bella Paper from this month's kit, then took a template I have and cut out the shaped layer from a piece of the Moxxie paper from the kit. Next, I cut a 3rd layer of paper from the My Mind's Eye Kit Paper and distressed, and inked the edges then punched the bottom corner.
I used the burlap from the kit for a photo matt, and frayed the edges to get the shabby look I love. The flourishes are from this month's embellishment add on, and the butterflies are from this month's Flora & Fauna Add On.

I misted the opposing corners with mist, then took a stipple brush to get the sponge look. I also glitter glammed the distressed edges of my papers for a shiny look. I used the Prima Metal Keys from the kit to tuck under the notebook punched layer.
