Memories Mini Album

Today, I would like to share with you a Mini Album that I created using that so very gorgeous Scraps Of Darkness February Kit-Simple Pleasures. It is loaded with some of the brand new Prima Engraver papers and elements, and I am just in love with it. On the front cover, and on the next to the last page of the album, I have used a Peeled Wallpaper Effect that I cam up with, and if you want to check out the YouTubeVideo Tutorial for that please visit the Scraps Of Darkness Website.

I not only used the Peeled Wallpaper Effect on this album, but used tons of others as well.

I heat embossed the "Memories" chipboard piece, and then randomly painted it in spots with Tattered Angels Glitter Glam. The metal key is from the kit, and the pearl beaded chain is a Prima Tassel from a past kit. The Antique Linen Butterfly is from my Reneabouquets Etsy Shop.

I repeated that same process for the clock hands, and the weathered clock in the background was inked, crackle stamped, and then coated in UTEE (Ultra thick Embossing Powder).

Here you can see all the "chunky" dimension of my album. I used the Prima Engraver Mini Frames to create a pull through on both sides of the mini, then took a piece of ribbon and attached velcro to form a closure.

This little canvas tag was from the kit, and I took one of the wooden bees from the Flora & Fauna add on, inked it then rub oned the "live" rub on from the Romance Add On, and added a "loud" sticker from the kit. The flower is also from the Flora & Fauna.

Here I fussy cut one of the Engraver pps, added a photo, and then added the little sticker banners from the kit, a leftover canvas piece, some stash keys, and some burlap string. The "Live with intention" sentiment is one of the rub ons from the kit. This pieces is actually a hand sewn Pocket Page, and

Her is the pull out.

This is the back side of the pocket page. I added a real working pocket for storing treasures, from my stash, then took one of the rub ons from the kit and rubbed it directly onto the cloth pocket. The flower is a hand crafted Terra Cotta Texture Rose from my Reneabouquets Etsy shop.

Here I fussy cut out one of the time pieces from the Prima Engrave Paper, then added layers of  journal paper, and attached them together with an eyelet to form a piece that you can journal on, record memories, or put small photos onto.

This is that piece open.

This is a canvas page. I first misted it with the Art Anthology Timeless mist from the Color Add On, and then masked it using the Juicy mist. I then edged it in the fabric tape from the kit. I had never used the fabric tape before and really loved the ease of edging the canvas with it.

This is the backside. The pointing hand was fussy cut from the Shades of Gray sheet from the kit, then colored, and the "create memories" sentiment is from the kit sticker sheet.

Here I created another one of those time piece spots, and hung it with a chain piece from a past kit.

 Here it is opened up.

Next I took kit papers, and burlap sheets, sewed them together, and created a 12 spot booklet for photos or journaling. The following photos just show each page.

This next to the last page, features some more of that Peeled Wallpaper Effect. The Prima bling is from the kit and the sentiment "Love isn't blind, it just only sees what matters" is a sticker from the kit.

 And here is the back.

Thanks for stopping by for a look at my Mini Album. I hope you get the time to check out the Tutorial, and get to try it out for yourself. Please let me know if you create something using it, I would so love to take a peak!! Thanks for stopping by ~Hugs~ Renea

Design Team Reveal~Scraps Of Darkness February Kit-Simple Pleasures

Welcome to a new week! Hope you are having a great start to the week. I have had the flu for over a week now, and today was the first day that I actually felt like getting out of bed, so I guess I am off to a good start :)

Scraps of Darkness unveiled it's February Kit-Simple Pleasures on the 29th, and I am finally feeling well enough to dive into it, so I have a 12 x12 Canvas piece that I would love to share with you. It is based on the gorgeous sketch by SuePup that was included in this month's kit:

And I did lots of technique work using the wonderful Art Anthology mediums that were included in this month's Color & Creativity Add Ons. It features a Vintage Image that I had picked up at http://magicmoonlightstudio.blogspot.com/, and then I restored it and colorized it. The title of this canvas is "A Mother's Love."  I painted the canvas using the Art Anthology Chocolate Sorbet from the Creativity, then sprayed it with the Art Anthology Timeless Colorations from the Color Add On, then rag rolled it to get a really cool 2 tone effect. I then used the Prima Mask from the CAO, and painted over it with the A.A. Dimensional Crystal Guava, and added seed beads for lots of texture.

I came up with this really cool technique that I used to adhere some of the kit paper onto corrugated board, then peel it back to get a beautiful peeled wallpaper effect. I am working on the tutorial for that, so please be sure to check back with the Scraps of Darkness Website for that in the near future.

The brown trim was from the kit and I laced it with some hand dyed seam binding, then water distressed a paper lace piece from the Kaisercraft stickers that were in the kit, and layered it under the trim, and then layered some Vintage Crochet lace under the edge of the corrugated board. The flowers are a mix of kit pieces, flowers from the Flora & Fauna Add On, hand made flowers, and some past kit flowers layered in with some of the leaf stickers from the kit and then touched up with glitter paints.  The butterflies are Antique Linen Butterflies-Vintage Mustard and can be found in my Reneabouquets Etsy Shop

The frame around the photo was a part of the papers from the kit that I fussy cut out, and then cut the middle out of to create a frame for my photo, and the Vintage Doily was a piece that I had picked up at an estate sale. The love tag is one fo the stickers from the kit that I embellished with some stash Prima pearls.

Here you can see all the dimension  that all the layering adds and all the texture of the different mediums.

Thank you so much for taking the time to stop in and see my sketch layout. I absolutely love this kit, and all the different directions that it can be taken too! I have a lot more projects planned out in my head and hope to transfer out onto paper soon! Big Happy Monday Hugs~ Renea

Scrapmatts Projects Reveal

Happy February everybody! Hope you are having a very "Sweet" month, and have surrounded yourself with people you love, things you love, and have made time to do some of the things that you love to do. It is time for my monthly Scrapmatts Australian Chipboard Reveal, and in keeping with the Scrapmatt's "love is in the air" theme, I have created a a romantic memory pocket in a French Country theme that I love, with lots of little tuck ins to journal, store momentos and keep some of those most loved memories in.

Before I get started, I would like to credit the artist Cherry's Jubilee with this design. She had created a sewing pocket using manilla folders, and I just loved the basic design that she had created, so I took it, and altered it a bit and of course made it my own with my own style, but the basis of the design was completely inspired from her original~So thank you Cherry :)

I am the bookkeeper/Accountant for our local family business, Affordafixx Service Center, and I have lots of  those basic manilla file folders that need to be recycled in some way and this project was perfect for it. I cut  four file folders down to size 8 1/2 width x 9 1/2 height then machine sewed them together, leaving the tops open for tucking in treasures. I then heavily inked them for an aged distressed look. I then took layers of Prima Printery papers,  from a past Scraps Of Darkness Kit, distressed, inked and sewed them. I was then ready to start adding details which include lots of Scrapmatts Chipboard and past Scraps Of Darkness Victorainna Kit pieces.

Here I took a Scrapmatts CB 1092 Eiffel Tower  piece and heat embossed it with Tim Holtz Distress Emboss Powder. I then took a CB1081 Silhouette 01 piece, colored it with Tim Holtz Distress Markers then attached a hand tinted mini rose and seam binding to her dress.

The "Memories" sentiment at the top corner of the front file folder is a CB 1168 Assorted Word Piece that I
heat embossed it with Tim Holtz Distress Emboss Powder.

I used some Scrapmatts CB1017 Keys that I inked, stamped and added german glitter glass and snaps to. I then added leftover burlap strings to these two, and tied them to a 7 gypsies aligator clip. I attached a smaller key to a Prima Piece on one of the tabs, along with a Sweet Memories handcrafted butterly from my Reneabouquets Etsy Shop.

I created lots of pull outs, and on one of the large ones that can be used for journaling and attaching photos to, I used the other part of the CB1081 Silhouette 01 piece for an accent.

Here you can see where I created a sweet envelope for storing small pieces in out of a Graphic 45 toggle envelope, layered with a Prima Journal Spot and a small Scrapmatts CB1028 Butterfly that I heat embossed with some Lindy's Magicals and added a hand tinted mini rose and wire antenna to.

This is the back side view of the whole piece.

This is a double sided punched tag with hand tinted seam binding ribbon that tucks in.

Next, I have a Mixed Media Canvas piece that is actually a self portrait. Scrapmatts participates in lots of Craft Shows and Fairs and they have their Design Team create an 8 x 10 Self Portrait Canvas, and then they take them with them and hang them all together. What a FABulous way to show off their Design Team and their beautiful products while showing others how their products can be used!

Here is my canvas piece and it is titled Lucky Me, because I feel so lucky to be a part of such a diverse, talented team!!

I used an 8 x 10 canvas, lots of Scrapmatts Chipboard and different techniques, and Scraps Of Elegance "A Dream Within A Dream" Kit pieces to create this piece. I did lots of technique work on the canvas piece before getting started. I first painted the whole piece in gesso, then misted it with multiple layers of Lindy's Mists, smooch painted areas, distress crackeled areas then accented them with glitter and seed beads, I did stamping with pearl work, and gel medium and stenciling for loads of texture, and visual interest.

The photo of me was taken by my son, Draven this past August, and I used a CB6011 Ornate Frame that I distress crackle painted in white, then went over with silver ink to bring out the crackle.

Here I took a CB1125 Hinge, and paired it with a piece from the CB1163 Ornate Frame Set then painted them, and then used rub ons to create the design pattern, and added some pearls for accents.

Tucked into my flowers is a sweet little MC1028 Micro Chip featuring a painted birdcage and a little bird that I colored with Tim Holtz Distress Markers.

I love butterflies, so this Scrapmatts CB1015 Large Butterfly Chippie was a perfect addition. I painted it with white gesso then added fine silver glitter, and lots of white puff paint.

The title work was done using a small Prima tile with the sentiment "lucky"  tucked into a CB1163 Ornate Frame that I painted and then stamped with a script stamp. I then took a "Me" Sentiment from the CB1157 Assorted Words Set, painted and stamped it, then took a CB1017 Key and heat embossed it and attached a little Prima pearl for accent, and layered it underneath the "Me".

Thank you for stopping by for my Scrapmatts Reveal!! I just love working with all that yummy chipboard, and hope that you have enjoyed all the different ways that I have used them. Hope you find the time to learn a new technique or just to create something new~Hugs, Renea
