Collecting Pretty Things with the Scraps Of Elegance October Kit~

When Melinda named the October Scraps Of Elegance Kit, Pretty Things, she hit the nail right on the head!! This kit is loaded with some of the latest Bo Bunny Madeleine and Prima products to produce one of the Prettiest Kits I have ever seen!!

I used the kit to create an altered wooden book box in a ballerina theme. I love ballet!! To me it is one of the most beautiful visual arts there is, so this kit was perfect for capturing all the "pretty" that surrounds ballet.

I started with a wooden box that has a pull out drawer and I painted the whole box with a cream acrylic paint.

I then painted the sides,

and back with a thick layer of

Prima Finnabair Art Extravagance Texture Paste - Platinum Crackle, then sprayed it with Tim Holtz Brushed Pewter Distress Spray Stain to bring out the cracks.

I then added layers of distressed papers that I then edged with Reneabouquets Pale Pink Glitter Glass and Silver Microbeads, layering in some of the Gray trim from the kit, a bottom piece of one of the kit flowers that I edged with puff paint, and then topped with one of the die cut pieces from the kit.
I then fussy cut out one of the frames from the papers and layered on a Reneabouquets Beautiful Ballerina Chipboard Embellishment. I added cheesecloth, and flowers from the kit and Floral Add on along with some feathers and stash leaves. Added my title from the stickers that were in the Embellishment Add On, and topped it off with some Reneabouquets Tiny Treasures Spun Sugar Butterflies to match my ballerina's wings.

For the pull out drawer, I covered the edge with more of the lace from the kit, and then created a drawer pull from a metal bobbin topped with a Timeless Rhinestone Button and one of the flowers from the kit.

I love creating places that I can hide trinkets and treasures in and this kit helped me to create a perfect one! I can't wait to play with the kit some more! Thank you for joining me for my first project with the October Kit, and I hope that you find the time to create some "Pretty Things" of your own.  Hugs ~Renea

Autumn's Dance Created With The Scraps Of Darkness September Kit~Transition

OH the colors of Fall!! I just love all the Browns, Golds and Greens and the Scraps Of Darkness September Kit~ Transition will help you "Fall" right into the Season!!

I created the following layout using the gorgeous Transition Kit, along with this month's Floral Add On. I used a photo from the English National Ballet that features Elena Glurdhidze, and I titled it Autumn's Dance.

I started with layers of the kit  and add on papers that I distressed heavily.

I then took some Tim Holtz Texture Paste and a Dina Wakley Palette Knife  and created a stucco look similiar to that in the photo. I then sprayed the edges with Prima Color Bloom Sultry Shimmer Gilded, allowed it to dry then inked over it heavily with some Tim Holtz Distess Vintage Photo Ink to get that really aged look that I love. I then sprayed some lace with some Antiqued Bronze Distress Spray Stain and tucked it under the edges randomly.

I added a layer of distressed and curled paper, 3 layers of Doilies that I sprayed with some of the Antiqued Bronze Distress Spray Stain,  and then added my photo. I pleated some of the paper added that to the bottom of my photo along with some more of the stained lace, and then began building my flower layer with flowers from the kit and floral add on, along with some feathers and skeleton leaves from my stash and some of the chipboard embossed with Lindy's Embossing powder , and birdcage charm that were all in the kit.

Here you can see a close up of all the layering and pieces.

I added more flowers and chipboard at the bottom and top corners. The Champagne Dreams Butterflies are some of my Handcrafted pieces that you can find along with all the other linked products in my Reneabouquets.com and Reneabouquets Etsy Shops

I just love this time of the year with all the gorgeous colors, the crisp feeling of the air, and the sound of crunching leaves, and this kit will definitely help you capture everything that you love about the Fall Season!!  Hugs ~Renea

Amazing Things Created With The Scraps Of Elegance September Kit~Mary's Song

TGIF everybody!!! Today, I have a layout that I created with the Scraps Of Elegance September Kit~Mary's Song along with items from the Reneabouquets.com Store and Reneabouquets Etsy Shop to share with you before I head off and into the weekend. I used a photo that I took of a little robin that had built her nest in my rose bush. My husband, David and I just recently became  empty nesters and this layout was a reminder of this time and attitude that we need to keep during this time in our lives.

I started with layers of the kit papers, then did lots of technique work using items from my shops.
I distressed and inked the edges using the Tim Holtz Mini Distress Ink Set #11 (I used the Tea Dye Ink), an  then I used the Burlap Layering Stencil and TH Texture Paste, Inking it with ink and then misting over the top of the texture and letting it drip.

I colored the Blue Fern Chipboard frame from the kit  and then layered my photo in, along with flowers from the kit and from this month's Floral Add On and some cheesecloth for texture.
The Bricks are chipboard pieces from last month's kit , and the quote was cut from some of the stickers that were in the kit to suit my layout.

I used some of the loose bricks and coated them with sand paste.

Here you can see some close ups of all the textures and techniques.

The Prima Nests are an item that I carry, (They will be back in stock September 30th).  The Crochet Lace 002 and Shabby Pink Roses Butterflies are also Reneabouquets Items.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and find the time to create something unique and beautiful this weekend!! Hugs ~Renea

recently? We always have something fun going on and lots of inspiration!
I host a Bi-monthly ATC Swap and it is always lots of fun to swap a little piece of art with some of our members.

Today, I have an oversized tag and matching ATC that will get mailed out to my sweet swap partner,

I used the Scraps Of Darkness August Kit~Weathered & Worn along with flowers from the August Floral Add On to create a large oversized Tag with lots of paper layering, texture, and paper curling.

I love little bird's nests and I now carry one of my favorite sets the Prima Cradle Sparrow Nests in both my Reneabouquets.com and Reneabouquets Etsy Shops. The Crochet Trim 001, Tiny Treasures Salted Caramel Butterflies (with Gold Antenna choice), Tim Holtz Doily Stencil, Tim Holtz Texture Paint  and Tim Holtz Mini Distress Ink #3 can also be found in my shops.

A Beautiful Life Altered Book Box~

Today, I am taking it off the page, using the Scraps Of Elegance September Kit~Mary's Song to creat an Altered Keepsake Book Box. These boxes create such a wonderful way to store photo, treasures and trinkets and for this one, I chose a Vintage Image and Vintage style.

I will be providing Links for the Reneabouquets Products that I used on this project at the bottom of this post.

I took a paper mache book box, and coated it in gesso, then layered in distressed and inked papers from the kit running crochet lace from my shop along the edge. I then layered in paper Doilies and more layers of kit papers and then added on my image.

At the bottom corner, I layered in cheesecloth, feathers, past kit flowers, stash flowers, a flower from this month's floral add on topped with a rhinestone and pearl button from my shop, and then tucked in the little lock and key from the kit and topped it all with a Prima Sparrow Nest that you can find in my shop.

At the top right hand corner, I added a Baroque Metal Frame from my shop, and a Delicate Beauty Butterfly that I created just for the kit and that you can find in the kit or in my shop.

This is the backside of the book box. I layered in layers of inks, one that was from the kit, and then stamped the back with a past kit stamp. The little sticker piece on the closure was from the kit.

On the "binding" side, I layered on Tim Holtz Tissue tape and then inked it really heavy to give the look of a worn book binding.

And here you can see the "page" sides that I created using Tim Holtz Texture Paste from my shop and lots of inking. Sheer ribbon forms the closure that ties the book box closed, and keeps all your treasures inside.

I hope that you find the time to create this weekend, and hopefully collect some trinkets and treasures for yourself! Hugs ~Renea
