Treasure Collecting With The Scraps Of Elegance March Kit~Floral Fantasy

Today, I have a couple of projects that I created using the Scraps Of Elegance March Kit~Floral Fantasy. I am just in love with all the Graphic 45 Botanical Tea papers and elements of this kit, and just had to create a couple of pieces that are perfect for tucking and holding treasures in!!

First up is a a Manilla Folder Pocket Album that is created from cut down manilla file folders and sewn together to form a system to house lots of pull out tags and journaling spots so perfect for adding photos to and journaling about some of your favorite memories.

For the front of the folder system I used layers of distressed Graphic 45 papers from the kit and paper add ons, along with some lace panel from my stash and then fussy cut out a bird piece and gussied it up with stickles. I misted one of the flowers from the Floral add on and mounted it on top of a burlap piece that was a leftover from another project along with a couple of feathers. I added on a G45 "Hello Friend" sticker, a G45 Envelope and Tag that pulls out and some of my Spun Sugar Glitter Glass Butterflies from my Reneabouquets Etsy Shop.

To tuck into the folder I created 8 different, double sided tags all of varying sizes. I used some of the kit  rafia ribbon trim and some of the Embellishment Add On leaf trim as well as various cut out papers from the kit, and tags and sticker from the EAO along with hand dyed seam binding and buttons in my stash to make sets of tags and pull outs.

Here you can see where I finished out the back with some of the G45 paper.

Next, I have a sweet little set of altered jars. These little jars are not only beautiful, but the lids screw off to give you wonderful places to store small trinkets and treasures.

I covered the bottom part of the jars with Graphic 45 Sticker Tickets from the embellishment add on, putting one on the front and one on the back.

I then added some of the flowers from the kit to both sides of each jar, and then took some of the sticker strips and covered the lid edges.

For this jar, I topped it with reindeer moss, cheesecloth, feathers, some of the leaves from the kit that I daubed with gesso, one of the flowers from the Floral Add On that I misted then painted the edges with gesso, and a beautiful Scrapmatts Chipboard Butterfly from my stash that I painted, script stamped, texture painted and then added seed beads, German Glitter Glass and Prima E-pearls to.

Here you can see all the texture and technique work.

The 2nd jar, I topped with reindeer moss, cheesecloth and feathers, added in some of those sweet lavender leaves from the kit, along with some mulberry paper flowers, a little Prima bird's nest with a glittered up Scrapmatts Chipboard bird from my stash.

Here you can see all the details.

Thank you so much for dropping by!! I hope your week is off to a FABulous start and that you find time to create something special for yourself !! Hugs~Renea

Two Different Looks From The Scraps Of Darkness February Kit~Touch Of Grey

Today is our official Design Team Reveal with Scraps Of Darkness February Kit~Touch Of Grey!
I have 2 different layouts to share with you using that kit that show 2 different directions that you can take the kit in. The first one up is Shabby Vintage layout that features a beautiful vintage image from Linda K's blogspot.

I used layers of the coordinating paper add on.

Then added a Dusty Attic Frame that I had been hoarding for a couple of years, and that I painted with gesso, then script stamped with embossing and ink and used the Lindy's Embossing Powder from the Color Add On to add color and visual interest.

I did some stenciling with texture paint.

I then layered in a distressed and inked Prima Paintable from the kit, , some more distressed and inked paper, a paper Doily that I then added the metal Prima Clock Face from the kit over and then added on a large flower from a previous kit.
Next, I layered in lots of flowers from the kit, and floral add on, and some foliage and Vintage button from my stash. At the bottom corner of the photo, I created a hand dyed seam binding bow and topped it with another stash Vintage button.

I added more flowers from the floral add on to the top, left hand corner.

And then went across the bottom of my framing with more stash, kit, and floral add on flowers. I fussy cut the framed quote "You are every lovely word I could ever think of" from some of the kit papers and tucked it into my flowers. The English Tea Rose Glitter Glass Butterflies are from my Reneabouquets Etsy Shop.

This next layout shows a more masculine, grungy, playful side of the kit, and features a sweet photo of my son Draven when he was around 3 years old playing in the sand when our house was being built.

The layout consists of lots of torn and fussy cut papers from the kit and add ons that I misted and heavily inked.

I did some background stamping and added little details like wooden buttons, little staples and metal pieces f from some previous kits.

The corrugated piece features a peeled wallpaper effect that I came up with and have a tutorial for here on YouTube:
The metal clock piece is from the kit.

Here you can see the grunginess of all the peeling, painting and inking.

I mounted balsa wood inside a past kit Prima metal frame and then added on a bottle cap, Tim Holtz Charm and little wing nut head all from past kits.

The banner was created by layering in distress and inked kit paper, stained edge balsa wood and some of the Prima wood veneer letters from the kit, and then putting them together with hemp rope and hanging them with Tim Holtz Metal pins.

I hope you have enjoyed my work with the Scraps Of Darkness February Kit, and I hope you enjoy your weekend!! TGIF!!! Hugs~Renea

A Vintage Tea Party~Scraps Of Elegance March Kit-Floral Fantasy Kit

When I opened up the  Scraps Of Elegance March Kit~Floral Fantasy, it was like a breath of fresh "Spring" air!! With the combination of the Graphic 45 Botanical Tea and Kaisercraft papers, it is just completely delightful!

It came with this beautiful sketch created by our talented teamie, Sue Pup:

And the following is the layout that it inspired for me. It features a sweet Vintage Tea Party image and lots of fussy cutting and sewing.

I created lots of layers from the different G45 papers, scalloping, distressing and sewing them for lots of dimension.

Here you can see where I added one of those sweet Prima Antique garden sinks, then fussy cut out some of the humingbirds and vines from the papers, adding on flowers and Stickle accents.

Close up of the fussy cutting and Stickle work.

On the right side I created layers of fussy cut, kit, and stash flowers, fussy cut some of the butterflies from the papers and added some of my Reneabouquets Etsy-My Romantic Heart Glitter Glass Butterflies.

Here you can see all the layering in off the fussy cut pieces and flowers.

And here you can see all the dimension, that all that layering adds.

I hope your March is off to a wonderful start and if you are dreaming of Spring, don't forget to pick up one of these beautiful kits, and you will find it arriving soon  in a box  at your front door. Hugs~Renea

A Little Fairy Magic With Tresors De Luxe~

Hello, and welcome to my first Design Team reveal for the month of March with Tresors De Luxe!!
As you know I just love to create little magical places to store treasures, and today I have a little Fairy Dust Box to share with you. It comes topped with a little magical fairy scene and some sweet "Fairy Dust" tucked inside.

I first did a three layer crackle process on a little wooden box, and then after I got the deep crackle finish I rubbed silver ink into the crevices with my fingers to bring out the yummy lines in the crackle.
I then added on a Tresors:

White Fabric Flower FL-056

Next, I took one of my FAV little fairies that I created digitally from an image that I had gotten from the Graphics Fairy website and then I totally recolored it and added little wings. I fussy cut her out, inked the edges and added Swarovski Crystals to her wings.

I tucked my fairy into the large Tresors Flower, then added tulle, feathers, a little birds nest, a frosted up mulberry paper rose, and some piece of a Tresors:

Pink Fabric Flower Spray PF-023Dusty Rose Fabric Shabby Chic Roses PF-018

and one of my Shabby Roses Glitter Glass Butterflies from my Reneabouquets Etsy Shop.

Here is a side view of the crackle finish and all the softness on top.

Inside, I digitally created a little framed version of a poem I found online:
"Like Stardust Glistening On Fairies Wings, Little Girl's Dreams Are Magical Things"
I then fussy cut it out and silver glittered it up, added it to the inside lid of the box and added on another Tresors:

Dusty Rose Fabric Shabby Chic Roses PF-018

I then made a soft little bed out of fiber fill and covered it with some Tresors:

White Lace Trim LA-105

To hold my little glass bottle of  Fairy Dust.

I created a label from a Pinterest printable and then silver glittered the edges, glittered the cork stopper, created some fairy dust from german glitter glass, fine glitter and sequins. I then wrapped the lid with tulle and added on a sweet Tresors:

Dusty Rose Fabric Shabby Chic Roses PF-018

Scraps Of Darkness Reveals The February Kit~A Touch Of Grey

The Scraps Of Darkness February Kit~A Touch Of Grey was revealed a few days ago and WOW is it a gorgeous one!! Melinda always gives us some of the latest and greatest finds and this month is no exception!

With each kit, you get a sketch to provide inspiration, and the one for this kit was created by Sue Pup and provides tons of it for those of us, who sometimes need a little push in the mojo department.
Here is this month's sketch:

And the following is my take on the sketch, featuring some photos of my son, Draven that my sister, Tammy of All About Smiles Photography did of him. The darker paper just begged me for some masculine grunginess~

I used some paper from the Coordinating Paper Add On for the base and then tore, water distressed and painted the edges with some Jacquard Paint that I mixed with  sandblasting sand to get that that really gritty texture. The sand you use in a sand blaster is black so it really adds to the dark color as well.

For the pieces behind the photo, I fussy cut out one of the film strips from the CAO paper, fringed the ends and rolled them, then layered it in, then topped it with a view master piece that I created using the stencil from the kit. I first painted around the stencil onto a foil paper, then fussy cut it out and distressed the edges.

Next I distessed and inked some more of the kit papers and layered them, then distressed and inked the edges of my photo and added it on. I took some stash, Tim Holtz metal pieces to create the ball chain piece across the photo. then randomly placed dry wall tape for even more texture.

I created mattes for my smaller photos, by distressing and inking some more paper, and then attaching them together by setting eyelets and pushing ball chain through them. I added more dry wall tape, and  then  cut the "Live Life To The Fullest" quote from the paper and attached  the words randomly.

I then took more of my Jacquard paint and sand mixture and painted puddles all over my layout.

To create the bottom look, I took the leftover pieces that I tore off the paper edges and stacked them for a really cool layered look, then tore the large "Everyday Moments" piece from more of the paper, inked the edges and added it on with foam tape for dimension.

Just look at all that dimension!!

I love getting gritty and raw every once in a while, and that is what I love about the Scraps Of Darkness Kits, there is something for everyone. They are always so versatile and allow you to scrap how you like to scrap, and provide you with so much scrappy goodness that you will find yourself reaching into each kit, long after the month has gone by.

Thank you so much for visiting! Hugs~Renea
