Scraps Of Elegance Rue des Rosiers Kit~Design Team Reveal

Today is the official Scraps Of Elegance Design Team Reveal for the October Rue Des Rosiers Kit, and I have a couple of projects to share with you today, using that gorgeous kit.

This first project is a layout that features a photo of my Granny. She is holding my Dad in her lap and is surrounded by her other two sons Edward and Ralph. My Granny went on to have 7 children, 15 Grandchildren, and 33 Great Grandchildren before she passed away. She was a major influence in my life, and I miss her everyday. I titled this layout "She Was Love", because for everyone who knew her, that's exactly what she was. I wrote the following poem and gave it to her before she passed and she asked that I read it at her eulogy which I did. I wanted her to know what she meant to me, and I hope that it captured just a small percentage of what I felt for her:

I Want To Be Like Her
To My Grandmother
Love, Renea Harrison

The world they may not think so, but to me she is a queen
Whether in her youth or old age, true beauty through her I have seen
I hear her talk of her Jesus with such love in her voice
Between the things of this world and His ways, she has made her choice

She does not wear her faith around her neck like a talisman
Instead she covers her life in the blood of the Lamb, according to His plan
Oh, I want a heart like hers where love it has no bounds
One that beats for joy over the relationship with her Jesus she has found

The world, it may not think so, but to me she is the greatest soldier on Earth
Whether in her youth or old age, through her true strength I have observed
She has known some hard times, some so tough others would have given up
But she knew for her character to grow she must take from Him her cup

No, she is not perfect, not without sin
But she knows that face down on the floor is where true forgiveness begins
Oh, I want to have strength like hers that doesn’t come from muscle or bone
The kind that comes from the knowledge, that through surrender she will find her way home

The world it may not think so, but to me she is a star
Whether in her youth or old age, no truer faith have I seen so far
She has known great sorrow more than some could bear
But she knew that help would come, when before her King she went on her knees in prayer
Even when things did not go her way and life seemed so unfair
She would just bow her head and turn her troubles over to her Savior’s care
Oh, I want a faith like hers that radiates through her life
The kind that comes from knowing that she has a Savior who shelters her,
no matter what her strife

I did lots of technique work to create this look~Fussy Cutting, seed beads, paper rolling, inking,  puff paint, stenciling with texture medium and painting back over the bricks to add color.

All the paper and fussy cut pieces are from the kit and paper add on. There are flowers from the Floral Add On, and Cheesecloth, feathers, and a set of my Reneabouquets Etsy Butterflies all  from the kit.

Here you can see all the dimension of the paper rolling~

And all the texture of the texture medium, painting and puff paint.

And here is a side shot showing all the dimension and texture.

This next project is a mini album that I created from the kit and for a fun example for  Kathy  (Kathy In Alaska's) Mini Album Challenge she has going on here http://scrapsofdarkness.com/Forum/index.php?topic=3524.0 in the Scraps Of Elegance and Scraps Of Darkness Forums. There is a FABulous RAK being offered up~A special Christmas Paper Collection, and  from Melinda Kelly a $30.00 Gift Certificate to the Scraps Of Darkness and Scraps Of Elegance Store.  You do not have to be a member or use kits to participate. Everyone is welcome!! So come have some fun with us!!

I used a small acrylic mini album that I had gotten from the SOD/SOE store at one point. I painted the acrylic pages with gesso, then script stamped them in black and then glitter edged the pages, and started piling on pieces from this month's kit and add ons.

The cover features some of the stickers from the Embellishment add on, layers of paper, cheesecloth, feather, trim, a handcrafted butterfly from my Reneabouquets Etsy Shop, a small resin flower and a fussy cut, glitter accented bird from the kit. Flowers from the Floral Add On.  I added a Scrapmattts piece , a Prima nest, a rhinestone button and some other trims from my stash.

Here you can see how chunky my album is :)

On the inside I created a sewn pocket with tags created from the papers and hand dyed seam binding. On the opposite page there is space for a small photo or journaling. I loved the feathers in the kit, and added those with some flowers from the Floral Add On, and some lace from my stash.

Here is a close up of the tags, there is also a small tag hanging from the D-rings.

Another pocket with tags and little mini paper clips. The opposite page is actually a sewn, velcro closure pocket for storing treasures.

Some more space for a small photos or journaling and another pocket and tag.

I cut out one of the window shapes from the papers and created a sweet, little double sided tag.

And this is the back of my album.

Thank you so much for allowing me to share my memory of my Granny with you, and for checking out my work with this month's kit. I just love all the Vintage, Old World Romantic elements of this kit, and I hope you have enjoyed your visit! Until next time ~Hugs~Renea

Creating That Shabby~Vintage Look With Tresors De Luxe~

Happy Tuesday, everybody! Today, I have a layout that I created using lots of Tresors De Luxe Lace, Flowers, and embellishments along with some past Scraps Of Elegance Kit pieces. If you love the Shabby~Vintage look as much as I do, then you will love how easy Tresors De Luxe makes it to capture it!

I used the following Tresors Items:

White Venice Applique Lace LA-133

Pink Fabric Flower Spray with White Pearls PF-041

I did lots of distressed and punched layers, and used a wonderful Vintage Image by Janet K. Designs.

Here you can see where I created a flower spray using Mulberry paper flowers and some of the Tresors Dusty Rose Fabric Flowers. The "Wings" tag is one that I hand crafted, stamped and inked out of paper clay, and the Oh So Pinkalicious Butterflies are from my Reneabouquets Etsy Shop.

I loved this so very Romantic Heart Applique piece from Tresors, and accented it with another one of the Tresors Fabric Flowers. This is a piece that definitely speaks for itself, and can easily stand alone!

Here you can see the two different laces that I layered into the papers, and the yummy fabric and bead spray~all from Tresors.

Just look at all that dimension and texture that lend that amazing Tresors Touch!

Never throw away those lace scraps, here I used a leftover piece of Tresors lace, another one of those fabric flowers and a few stash pieces to create a beautiful accent to the bird pattern on the paper.

And here I used a chipboard word that I sponge painted and then accented with some more of the Tresors Fabric Roses and stash pieces.

I just love working with the Tresors De Luxe products, they make creating something special a breeze with all their texture, color and dimension~three things that are a must for taking your projects to another level.

Nutcracker Sweet Assemblage Clock~Reneabouquets Etsy Shop

Every once in a while I like to create a piece, just because I want to, and that is the case with this Nutcracker Sweet Assemblage Clock. I love creating miniatures of all kinds. I grew up creating them with my Grandpa and just can't get enough of items that allow me to add little treasures!!

I actually created this piece specifically to go into my Reneabouquets Etsy Shop for the Holiday Season.
I did lots of technique work on this pieces, crackle painting, texture painting, hand tinted glitter glass, seed beads, glittering, wire, fussy cutting, and glazing, all to create a magical treasure so perfect for Christmas.

I started with a Tim Holtz Assemblage Clock that I did a 3 coat crackle process on, then I texture painted it randomly adding hand tinted Glitter Glass and seed beads for lots of shine and amazing surface variation.

On the top I added Prima Resin pieces with Prima pearl accents, glittered up Scrapmatts chipboard snowflakes with Crystal centers. Rhinestone and pearl pieces and wrapped wire pieces. I fussy cut the Sugar Plum Fairy, and curtains with bows from the papers and the topped a sticker with a Prima piece. All the paper pieces on the whole piece, were accented with Diamond Stickles and then glazed with Judikins Diamond Glaze for amazing shine and durability.

The back side of the clock was covered with G45 Nutcracker paper and then I layered in twinkle fluff (that is so shiny the camera caught it and made it look like fire). The Nutcracker clock and Clara were layered in for dimension.

I took a G45 Nutcracker sticker and placed it in a Prima Resin Frame with a Prima pearl accent, and then diamond glazed over the sticker so that it looks like glass in real life, and attached it to the assemblage piece.

Here you can see that yummy crackle finish with the texture paint, german glitter glass and seed beads.

And this is the back of the clock.
All sides were finished out, for a piece that is view-able from all sides.

Thank you for indulging my off the page side, I really love doing this kind of work and I am so grateful that my scrappy friends support in all of my indulgences. Hope you get a chance to create something magical of your own this week!  Hugs, ~Renea

The 12 Days Of Christmas With Tresors De Luxe~

I know it may seem a little early for Christmas projects, but I always carry a little Christmas in my heart all year around,  and when I saw the new Graphic 45 "Twelve Days Of Christmas" line, I just couldn't contain myself!! I just knew that they would look amazing teamed with lots of those gorgeous Tresors De Luxe Etsy Shop laces, flowers and embellishments, and I just couldn't let them sit by till later-lol!

I used the following Tresors Items to add that perfect Vintage Christmas look:

Metallic Red Shabby Chic Roses PF-035

Butterfly Applique AP-001

I captured this look by fussy cutting and dimensionally layering the Twelve Days Poem onto the paper. I then accented it with lots of Tresors lace at the bottom, flowers, Tresors flowers, a Vintage look button, a silk bias bow, topped with a leftover pearl piece from some Tresors Trim, Chipboard Holly, and some of my Music Of The Night Butterflies from my Reneabouquets Etsy Shop. I also glitter paint accented some of the details to add some extra sparkle.

Here you can see a close up of all the layers of trim, and the sweet little red and gold roses that add those special Tresors Touches.

I tucked some more of the little red and gold roses into the fussy cut foliage around the poem.

Here you can see where I tied, hand died seam binding, tulle and some more Tresors lace to the D-rings.

The first two pages contain spaces for photos and a little removable hand sewn book. The opposite page is actually sewn together to form a pocket that is perfect for tucking in treasures~

The little hand sewn book.

Lots of pages for little photos and journaling.

The Tresors lace and butterfly applique add instant Vintage elegance!

Scraps Of Elegance Reveals The October Kit~ Rue des Rosiers!!

If you are looking for my Blog Giveaway, please scroll down one post!

The Scraps Of Elegance October Kit has revealed and once again, I am in love!!!
I love everything Vintage and Antique, so creating with this kit is definitely be up my alley. If you love rich, warm colors, damask or baroque this kit will so speak to your heart :)

Charlotte (Suepup) our sketch artist has outdone herself with this month's stunning sketch:

And here is my take on it:

This layout features one of my FAV subjects to scrap, dance, and I used a photo that I thought I had  found on Pinterest, but when I went to my boards to give the photographer credit, I couldn't find it there, so I must have gotten from elsewhere, but can not find it, so I apologize.

I used lots of layers of the Bo Bunny "The Avenues" papers from the kit to create all the different layers you see. I did a lot of distressing, crackle painting tearing, fussy cutting and stamping.

I used the trim, cheesecloth, beaded pins, feathers, cameo, Heidi Swapp flowers, definition stickers, Bo Bunny cardstock stickers from the kit.

I used the Prima Finnabair Elements, and Bo Bunny Combo Stickers, from the Embellishment Add On, and the Prima Serenity flowers from the Floral Add On.

The chipboard circles are some of my stash DT Scrapmatts pieces that I grunge, heat embossed.

Here you can see where I tore peek a boos into my layout, distress crackled and inked them, and then layered some of the kit definition stickers behind the holes.

Here you can see all the texture that the cheesecloth, embossing, feathers, and crackle add.

A close up of the crackle paint and stamping.

A side shot so that you can see all the dimension and layering.

Oh how this kit makes me dream of browsing through Antique shops and days gone by!!! I hope you find a little time to dream this weekend and to create a project that you have been daydreaming about~ Hugs~ Renea
