Mother's Day Duo Gift Card Holder and Favor Bag

Mother's Day is not that far away, so I wanted to create something unique and wonderful that might inspire you to create something beautiful for your own Mother, for her special day. I used some papers and embellishments from a past Scraps of Darkness Kit-Victoriana to create these pieces, and lots of goodies from The Rubber Cafe.

For the Favor Bag, I took a piece of 6 x6 square burlap and folded it in and hot glued it to form a pocket. I then pulled some of the threads to give it a nice fringed edging and stained the edges with
some Tim Holtz Rusty Hinge Stain.

I then took a piece of Prima Printery Paper, cut it into a strip to fit around the bag, and stamped it with the postcard stamp from The Rubber Cafe Vintage Treasures Stamps. I then stained the edges with Tim Holtz Broken China and Wild Honey Stains. I then tied a piece of hemp rope around the band to add interest. Next I cut another piece of Prima Printery Paper using a Spellbinders Parisian Accents Die, and inked the edges with the Wild Honey Stain and then popped in a Vintage Brad. I fussy cut a spoon from the Prima paper and then stained it with the same Tim Holtz Broken China and Wild Honey Stains.

I then took the Large Daisy Stamp from The Rubber Cafe and stamped two images, onto some of the printed Prima paper using Tim Holtz Wild Honey Ink and then fussy cut the flowers out and stacked them together and then added seed beads to the center with some Scrap Happy Glue and the Stick Em' Up tool to place all those tiny little beads into place. I then cut a piece of Kaisercraft Madame Boutique paper to fit the pocket and punched the top and stained the edges, and tucked it into the pocket for color and visual interest. You now have a sweet Vintage look favor bag that you can tuck tea bags, candy, jewelry or any small treat that you wish to put a smile on your Mom's face.

For the card I took a piece of the Prima Printery paper and stamped it using the same postcard stamp from The Rubber Cafe Vintage Treasures Stamps. I then stained the edges with Tim Holtz Broken China and Wild Honey Stains, layered on a piece of burlap, pulling some of the threads to give it a nice fringed edging and stained the edges with some Tim Holtz Rusty Hinge Stain.  I used a piece of Really Reasonable Emily White Crochet trim that I spritzed with Tattered Angels Coffee Bean Mist to get the color I wanted, then took a piece of Kaisercraft Madame Boutique paper that matched the paper on the favor bag and punched the top and the bottom, distressed and stained the sides and layered it on the burlap. The little tea pot is a Prima Resistable Canvas piece that I misted with the Tattered Angels Coffee Bean Mist to match the trim, then I attached a Vintage Brad to match the one on the Favor Bag. I created a sentiment tag and the adhered Pearl Jellie Dots to it for interest.

For the back of the card, I just folded the bottom portion of the card over, stamped it using the same postcard stamp from The Rubber Cafe Vintage Treasures Stamps,  and inked the edges to match the rest of the card. I ran Scrap Happy Glue down the side edges, leaving the middle loose so that you can tuck a gift card or tag with a sentiment into it.

There you have it, a beautiful set that is sure to please any Mom, because it was made from your heart and hands.  I hope this inspires you to make something creative and beautiful for someone special in your life! ~Renea

So Much Joy Berry71Bleu Pages And Tags

Good morning everybody! With Spring in the air and Easter just around the corner, I wanted to use one of my beautiful Berry71Bleu Easter themed tags to create a layout. As soon as I saw the tag, I knew what photo I wanted to scrap with it. It is a photo of my son Draven asleep in his little car seat when he was just a few weeks old. I love the moment my husband, David caught when he snapped this photo. It just brings so much joy to a mother's heart.

I used layers of My Mind's Eye papers that I distressed, inked, punched, set eyelets in and folded.

Behind the photo, I inked and layered in a Doilie, some chipboard pieces and some hand made texture roses. I also inked the edges of my photo, just to get a nice contrast.

At the top and bottom of the photo, I used some Pink Paislee Ornate pieces that I inked and set pearl brads in.

Here you can see that I folded my paper back and used a pearl brad with some wire and a crystal wrapped around it, to hold it back. The fold back allowed me to showcase my Berry71Bleu tag in a little corner of it's own. The only addition that I made was a few more of those texture roses.

Creating a beautiful memory is made easy when you use one of Marivic's beautiful tags. It adds instant pizazz to any page! Thanks for letting me share one of my sweet memories with you! ~Renea

You Are Beautiful Altered Memory Book Box *Scraps Of Elegance*

The following project is an altered memory book box that I created using the Scraps Of Elegance April Kit-Awakening. It features lots of layers of those beautiful kit papers, and lots of fussy cutting.

On the top of the box, I used lots of layering, punching, as well as some stamping and brick work, some Shabby Mauve Texture Roses and some mini Sea Green Glitter Glass Butterflies from my Etsy Shop.
This is a shot of the binding, which I created by Mod Podging some of the Vintage Music Sheets from this month's Embellishment add on and inking them up in multiple layers.
This angle show how I created the sides to look like pages of an old Vintage book, and then used a sheer ribbon to tie a bow and keep the book closed, and your treasure secure.

This is the back view that I inked in multiple layers, distress stamped and then crackled to create the look of an old worn book.

I just love these Altered Book Boxes! They are a lot of fun to create and make a beautiful storage space for special momentos, letters and trinkets. Thanks for letting me share it with you! ~Renea

Beautiful Smile Scraps Of Elegance Butterflies and Bling Challenge

Over at Scraps of Elegance there is a challenge called Butterflies and Bling, and you know how much I love butterflies, and well bling? Just the perfect icing on top, so I created the following layout for a "just for fun" layout for that challenge.
The guidelines for this month's Butterflies and Bling Challenge:
The challenge starts today and ends April 30th.
Your layout or altered item must have butterflies and bling.
Must be done with at least 50% Scraps of Elegance goodies.
Winner will be chosen randomly.

This month variable:  Use at least one punch!!  It can be a border or shape punch.

So here is my take featuring a sweet Easter photo of my husband's little sister, Karen from when she was a little girl. I created the layout using this month's Scraps of Elegance Kit- Awakening. It features lots of punching, some Sweetest of Days Butterflies from my Etsy Shop , and Prima bling from the kit.

As you can see, I punched the edges of the background paper and used the same punch to punch the circle.
I fussy cut the bird with nest piece from some of the Moxie paper in the kit. I then fussy cut out some individual flowers and and added bling to them, fussy cut a second layer of the bird image, and added stickles and popped them on for dimension. I also did some machine sewing on the darker page just to add some extra color on the dark background.

I added a sweet bow from the Prima flowers that were in the kit and then added one of the Prima Trinkets from this month's Add On, and then used the Pink Paislee Rub Ons for the AO to add "smile" to the trinket.

For the bottom border I fussy cut the design out of some of the kit paper and then layered on the Prima Bling from the kit.

At the bottom corner of the photo, I added on some of the Prima Flowers from the kit and tucked in one of the precious little tags from the kit and added a piece of stash Prima blind to the hole.

This kit is just loaded with Spring elements, and offers up the perfect opportunity to scrap some of those sweet memories of Easter! Thanks for letting me share my work with you! ~Renea

I have become the participants Stalker and I am know stalking their home. I want them to pick out a room in their home that I would see and tell me something about that room. Beginning the title with "This Is Where I .........".

The winner will receive a $10.00 Gift Certificate from the SOD/SOE store, and a small RAK from my Etsy Shop!! So come join in on the fun!

Here is my example layout:

I chose a shot of my bedroom and I titled it "This Is Where I Dream." I used the Scraps Of Darkness March Kit-Needful Things to create the layout. I layered in Graphic 45 and SEI paper from the kit along with a piece of card stock from a previous add on.

I then took a Doilie that I sprayed with some of the Maya Mist from this month's color add on. I took some ZVA bling from the store and framed out my photo. Then took some of the SEI die cuts from the kit and printed the first words of my title onto them and inked the edges.

In the top corner I pleated some of the crochet trim from the Romance Add On and then fussy cut the boot image from some of the G45 paper, added some Stickles and popped on a hand tinted mini rose.

I took some more of the crochet trim and put it across the bottom of the layout and then cut out foliage that I stamped using some Heartfelt Creations Stamps and matching Spellbinders Die. I then added on the big cream and beige flowers from the Flora & Fauna Add on as well as some Shabby Terra Cotta Texture Roses from my Etsy Shop. I repeated the process on the opposite side and then popped on some Poppy Gold Crush Glitter Glass Butterflies from my Etsy Shop to add that extra dimension and shine.

So see,you got to Stalk me and check out my bedroom where I do most of my dreaming, and next comes the fun part, I get to Stalk all the members who come to play along!! So much fun! I love all the really cool and unique challenges that we have going on over at Scraps Of Darkness. Even if you don't play along with this one, I invite you to come check out some of the other ones. They really can push you out of your creative comfort zone and set your imagination free! ~Renea

SCRAPS OF ELEGANCE REVEALS IT'S APRIL KIT-AWAKENING

Today Scraps of Elegance reveals its April Kit-Awakening. When you open up your box Spring will awaken right before your eyes, with all the gorgeous Spring colors, and fabulous Spring embellishments.

Each kit comes with an inspiring sketch from Charlotte aka Suepup:

And the following is my take on this month's sketch.

This layout features a photo of Emmie at the beach while on vacation with her Mom and Dad. I started with a layer of the beautiful Glitz paper then layered on a Doilie. I then punched a layer of the kit pp and then took Crepe Paper and pleated it for some texture. Next, I heavily water distressed a paper layer, and then layered on another piece of Pink Paislee paper from the kit.

Here you can see all the dimension and texture of the multiple layers of paper, with a layer of white ribbon from my stash and a layer of trim from the kit. I added on a silver Tim Holtz button and then popped on one of the Magical Dragonflies included in the kit and that you can also find in my Etsy Shop.

I adhered Emmie's photo and then used some of the Pink Paislee rub ons to border the photo. I then added a Shabby Mauve Texture Rose from my Etsy and two small mini roses that I hand tinted to match, to the top corner of the photo.  I then overlayed the bottom of the photo and layout with one of the Glitz Peek a Boos.

For the bottom corner floral piece, I layered in a small Doilie, some of the Prima Hermosa flowers from the kit, some more of the mini roses, another Shabby Mauve Texture Rose, and a sweet Prima Art Tile from this month's embellishment add on.

For the top cluster, I repeated the flower process, and then tied a sheer pink bow through the Prima Vintage Trinket and added it in. I then popped a small Magical Dragon onto the corner fold down.

I loved all the sweet Spring colors and embellishments. They helped me to capture the sweet innocence of  Emmie playing on the beach. Thanks for the visit! ~Renea
