Prima Stationers Desk Pocket Journal~

I hope everyone's weekend is off to a fantastic start!! For a little weekend inspiration, I have a Pocket Journal that I created with lots of goodies from Reneabouquets.com and the Reneabouquets Etsy and the Prima Stationers Desk Collection.

I started with a Sewn Pocket Journal Base, and then started layering on lots of details.
There are 5 different sized layers of the Stationers Desk papers that I distessed heavily and then added my Vintage Image to.

At the bottom of the journal I ran some Crochet Lace #002 that I misted with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Spray Stain for a wonderful, aged Vintage look.

On the layer of paper under my photo, I painted the paper with Tim Holtz Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint, let it air dry and then inked over it and around the edges with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink to add in lots of YUMMY texture and an aged look.

Next I took a strip of burlap, tied it, then added on matching Prima flowers and foliage at the bottom corner of my photo. The Precious Keepsakes Glitter Glass Butterflies are some of my hand crafted creations that I carry in both my shops, and if you fold the wings up, you get such wonderful dimension and all my chunky painting and glittering add lots of texture and color. A special feature I offer in my shops is the ability to choose your antenna color, which only adds to the ability to match whatever project you are creating.

For the gorgeous Vintage clock piece, I took a Metal Baroque Frame , layered on a Tim Holtz Metal clock piece, popped on a mini rose and added a Reneabouquets Small Key Trinket, and then for the pendelum, I took a Prima Metal Trinket  Timeless Recaptured Alpha added the "R" from the pieces that came with it and wired it to Baroque Frame piece to create a "WOW" piece for my journal.

Here you can see all the pieces untucked. There are 2 large, punched pieces, 2 Large Tag pieces, and 3 smaller tags. All these pieces give you double sided areas to journal, place small photos, attatch momentos and you can tuck some extra momento or clip them with the metal Prima paper clip for added storage.

The tuck in pieces have hand dyed seam binding bows, matching roses and Timeless Rhinestone Button Accents In Gold.

The backside is finished out in matching Prima Paper to give the piece a nice designer look.

Thanks so much for dropping by! I am now off to go make salsa, and do some canning! Fall is just around the corner here and Winter will be here before we know it, so I have to get all that done while I can. Hugs ~Renea

Get Your Swag Bag On~

Swag Bags are all the rage right now, and one of the private Facebook groups that I hang out with is doing a Get Your Swag Bag On Swap that I am taking part in. I am going to show you my bag and how I put it together by upcycling the paper bags that Melinda Kelly puts in our Scraps Of Elegance monthly kits. I love upcycling products into my projects and this is a so easy way to keep some of that waste out of the landfills.

Step One:

Take one of your bags that you get your SOE kit supplies in. (or any paper bag will do)

Step Two:

Take the bottom of your bag and fold it up to the top. I folded mine so that you had about a one inch drop from the top opening.

I folded mine so that it overlapped below the top opening.

Step Three:

Sew either by hand or by machine, up the two sides of your bag to form the pockets. If you don't want to sew, you can always just glue to the insides of each side to adhere.

Here is what the finished product will look like.

And here you can see the pockets it creates.

Once you have your base created then you can get to embellishing and layering!!
Here is the Swag Bag that I created out of it:

I created a sewn layer of matching paper for both the front and backside which helped to make the paper bag sturdy and stuffable!! I did my Swag Bag in a tea theme using a Vintage Photo of a ladies tea party.

I hand stamped a Doily and added my photo, then added some Sweet Daisy Lace across the bottom. I then took a fussy cut tea cup and added a Reneabouquets Silver Spoon , some flowers from the Floral Add On and kit, and then hand stamped and fussy cut out leaves.

I created a little clip on booklet, by sewing a hand stamped tea bag on to a pink card stock booklet that I put together, I then added a sweet little teapot charm to the tea bag string.

Here you can see all the little treasures that I tucked into this Swag Bag for my swap partner. It includes a Julie Nutting Madison Wooden Doll, a package of Prima New Hearts Resins, two large tags that I created from chipboard and then covered with kit paper. I then wrapped one with some

Here is a close up of the little handcrafted tea bag booklet.

I created a little velcro pouch out of kit paper,

and tucked in some Reneabouquets Silver Spoons inside.

I absolutely loved creating this piece, and I hope my swap partner loves it!! She is having brain surgery and hopefully when she returns and finds this waiting on her, it will help to brighten her day!!! I hope you get a chance to try out creating the base from the steps I provided and then you too can Get Your Swag Bag On!!! Hugs ~Renea

Friends Pocket Journal~

So I am sitting here coloring my hair and blogging, so I hope I don't forget and fry my hair!!!
Today, I have grey roots showing and hopefully in less than an hour I will be back to my normal color-LOL!!!
So all jokes aside, today I have a Pocket Journal that I created with the Scraps Of Elegance August Kit~Mallika's Whimsy. I am also taking part in a group that I hang out with on Facebook called Chic Craftique's  Challenge called Fancy Flight Butterflies and DragonFlies August Challenge that my Reneabouquets Shop is Sponsoring the prize package for. I love the scrappy community and encourage all of you take part in any of the numerous challenges and events that are hosted by so many. It really is a lot of fun!!

I started with a Handcrafted Sewn Pocket Journal Album Base that I create just  for these journals, and layered on distressed and Tim Holtz Distress Tea Dye Inked  kit paper. It then added some Wide Floral Lace across the middle and some Sheer Romance Lace across the bottom.

Next came a layer of frayed and inked canvas, some paper doilies and then more distressed and inked kit paper, and I fussy cut the sweet bird image out of some more of the kit paper. The resin piece is a Prima Resin Heart piece, and the butterflies are my handcrafted Reneabouquets Spun Sugar Butterflies for the "Butterflies" part of the Chic Craftique Challenge.

I popped on a Prima Bird's Nest, added one of the sweet little resin bird houses from the kit that I added some Reneabouquets Chunky Glitter Glass in Pale Pink to for that added texture, a Prima Roses from the kit and a Prima Watercolor Aqua Marine Flowers from this month's Floral Add On. I tucked in some twine from a past kit and then accented the little nest with one of my Reneabouquets Tiny Treasures Fenton Art Glass Dragonflies for the "Dragonfly" part of the challenge.

I took one of those little resin nests from the kit, cut some streamer paper into fringe trim and added it to the bottom along with some more of the Chunky Glitter Glass, added a twine bow and "tied" it onto a Reneabouquets Glass Dome Cabochon.

This is the backside view that I finished out in matching paper for a designer look.

And here is the system with all the tuck ins pulled out so that you can see them. They include 2 large tags that I created with pocket to house more of the little Prima Garden Fable Tag Me  Pieces from the Elements Add On, 2 large tags that open up (decorated with Bridesmaid Lace), two smaller tags decorated with hand died seam binding and rhinestone and pearl buttons, and a hand sewn 8 page booklet.

Well, I think my hair is past done, so I better get off here and rinse it out! I hope you have a wonderful, creative day, and find the time to play along with some of your scrappy friends ! Hugs ~Renea

Enjoy Today With The Scraps Of Elegance August Kit~Mallika's Whimsy

Happy Wednesday everybody!!

Today, I have a layout to share with you that I created with the Scraps Of Elegance August Kit~Mallika's Whimsy that features a photo of my son Draven when he was little. My husband, David and I would grab some kites and Draven and head to the Chickamauga Dam for a fun day of picnics and kit flying!! Can you tell that Draven was into all things Sesame Street??! The color in the photo were primary colors so I toned them down in Photoshop so that I could use those gorgeous blues, lime greens and yellows in the kit.

I started with a bottom layer of kit paper, then sized down a 2nd layer that I distressed really heavily.

I then tore out some different layers from more of the papers, distressing, sewing, curling and layering them in and then adding on my sweet photo of Draven.

I used a past kit stencil along with a Dina Wakley Palette Knife to apply Ranger Texture Paste really heavily for a gorgeous texture.

I then created little kite embellishments out of some Tim Holtz frosted film from a past kit. I used small wooden dowels to create the cross beams on the backside of the kite. I loved that the frosted film allowed you to see the beams through the design just like a real kite. I created the pattern on the kite using another past kit stencil along with a Dina Wakley Palette Knife to apply Ranger Texture Paste and after it dried, I inked over the pattern with some Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and Cat's Eye Lime Ink. I then added some of the Prima Crystals from this month's Elements Add On to add that yummy sparkle and even more texture. I then

I then created "kite string" from burlap strings and tied on little baker's twine bows (twine was from a past kit) for a final touch.

Next, I took a piece of the Blue Fern Frolic Chipboard from the kit, inked it with the lime ink, then sponge painted it with some Dina Wakley Gesso, cut it into pieces tucking 2 pieces under my layers and adding another piece to the side of my layout.

To house my "today" piece, I took a Tim Holtz Ornate Book Plate, sponge painted it with the gesso, hit it with a heat gun to set the paint on the metal, and then sponge painted it again with some lime Jaquard Paint and hit it with the heat gun againg. I then put in my sentiment and painted over it with
Tim Holtz Rock Candy Crackle to get that cracked texture look I love.

I added flowers from this month's Floral Add On.

Made some paper rolls from scrap pieces of the kit paper, tying them with the baker's twine and adding those sweet little "wish" and "create" metal tags that were in the kit.

I added more FAO flowers and a large Prima "Enjoy" bulb piece from my stash.

Oh I miss those days of childhood bliss, but I love seeing my son now, all grown up and a reflection of the love that created and raised him. I hope he remembers all those fun days we spent playing as foundly as I do!! Here are to days filled with moments that make memories and days filled with creating memories of those moments. Hugs ~Renea

Taking Time For You With The Scraps Of Elegance August Kit~

The Scraps Of Elegance August Kit~Mallika's Whimsy has debuted and has already Sold Out!!
It truly is a gorgeous collection as all of our kits always are, so if you want to get in on all the goodness, you can sign up for a Subscription that guarantees you don't miss out!!

For my first project with the kit, I have a layout that I created surrounding a Vintage Image. I wanted to capture a timeless look that also reflects some of the techniques that I love to use that add lots of texture and dimension.

I started with a layer of kit paper, then distressed and distress punched a second layer. I then added a kit paper background for my photo.

I then created layers of flowers and vines using Flowers from the kit , along with Prima Symphony Blend Flowers In Amoroso Pink, and Camellia Flowers In Ivory. I added in mulberry paper leaves and curled floral wire from my stash. I then tucked in one of the Prima Clocks from this month's Elements Add On and topped it with Prima Metal Clock Hands.

You can find a set of 2 of my Reneabouquets Sweet Dreams Butterflies In Buttercream, in this month's kit.

I took pieces of the Blue Fern Frolic Mesh Chipboard included in the kit, inked it, then heat embossed it, and then topped it with flowers a rose from the kit, another Camellia Flower, another Prima Clock Face with a Prima Garden Fable Crystal from the E.A.O.

Next I sprayed the bottom right hand side of my layout with Prima Bloom Spray In Ginger Coral, and then over sprayed it with Prima Bloom Spray In Gold Foil to get that gorgeous coral and gold striated color effect. I then painted down the side of my photo and into the color with Tim Holtz Distress Rock Candy Crackle which allowed the color to play through.

I then layered on pieces of white tissue paper with Ranger Texture Paste. After that dried I added some of the Mica Flakes from the kit and dusted it with Reneabouquets Chunky Glitter Glass In Diamond for loads of shimmer that you just can't see in a photograph. I then added a Prima Garden Fable Chipboard piece with the sentiment "time with you" on it, and added more flowers and foliage.

Thanks for taking some of your precious time to stop by my blog!! All of you inspire me so much with your wonderful work and I can only hope that you find some inspiration from my work as well! Hugs ~Renea
