Creating With The Scraps Of Elegance March Kit~Anna's Daydream & The March Mood Board

What are Daydreams made of?? They are made up of all the gorgeous elements in the March  Scraps Of Elegance Kit~Anna's Daydream!!

This kit is the perfect mix of Shabby meets girlie-grunge and I paired it with the following Mood Board created by the super talented Anna for us to play along with!!

If you would like to join us and play along with our mood board as well as many other fun challenges and contests, please visit us here on Facebook:

I used the March Kit, the mood board and a photo of one of the most inspirational ballerinas of our time, Misty Copeland~an author, entertainer, and American Ballet Dancer for the American Ballet Theatre, one of the three leading classical Ballet companies in the United States.

I started out with layers of the distressed and inked papers that pulls the colors from the frame photo, and the grunginess from the paint brush photo in the mood board,  sewing, punching and and layering them in.

Behind my photo is a layer of punched paper and a layer of Timeless Vintage Wide Lace, that reflects that romantic style of  Jane Austin the author of the quote in the Mood Board.

The top corner is some paper that I tore out, machine sewed and then added a Tim Holtz Metal Book Frame and one of the quote pieces from the kit  "Never Give Up", and a Prima Fifth Avenue Flower and small Prima flower from this month's floral add on.

I used the little hearts from the kit, then cut out larger hearts from the kit paper, inked and distressed them and layered them together, pulling the heart shape from the Mood Board Photo.

At the bottom corner of my photo, I made a floral piece using the large flower from the kit, another Prima Fifth Avenue Flower, and a past kit flower and stash feathers.

I took the little resin feathers from this month's Elements Add On and added hand dyed seam binding and some lace pieces that match the large flower, and then cut one of the tags with quotes on it from the EAO into pieces, distressed and inked the edges and added them on in between the "falling" feathers.

I have always loved scrapping in the girlie grunge style, and this kit is perfect for that look!! I hope you get a chance to grab a kit, or at least to come join us on the Facebook Community Page for one of the Mood Board Challenges!! Hugs~Renea

Going Vintage With The Scraps Of Darkness March Kit~Michelle's Mechanical Madness

TGIF everybody!!! As we head into the weekend, I have a Vintage look Pocket Journal that I would like to share with you that I created with the Scraps Of Darkness March Kit~Michelle's Mechanical Madness. I just loved those blues and browns and some of the Vintage look pieces in the papers and kit were perfect for putting together this sewn file folder pocket system that houses 7 double sided tags that can house journaling or small photos.

The pocket album was created from cut down, up-cycled manilla file folders that I sewed together to form a pocket system. I layered on distressed and Vintage Photo Inked layers of the Kit Papers. I added stash ribbon at the bottom.

I fussy cut out the Vintage Lady,  as well as the "Life Is Better With Friends" piece  from the kit papers. I added on flowers from this months floral add on and a past kit flower, then hand stamped some leaves and fussy cut those out.

I added one of the metal pieces from the kit to the side and topped it with one of the jeweled pieces from the kit. I then added on a large metal flower piece from the kit, more flowers from the floral add on and my stash, more of the hand stamped leaves and a burlap fray bow, and then created all my tuck in tags from fussy cut and punched paper pieces from the kit.

Here you can see the finished out back side of my pocket journal.

And here you can see all the matching, double sided, tuck ins, with hand dyed seam binding bows, as well as jeweled pieces, and a Prima Metal Trinket Alpha piece from the kit that were used as accents.

I hope you have a FABulous weekend!! Hugs ~Renea

Getting Grungy With The Scraps Of Darkness March Kit~Michelle's Mechanicals

Have you seen the Scraps Of Darkness March Kit yet??!! It is named after one of our scrappy sister's Michelle Phillips~Michelle's Mechanical Madness Kit! So grungy and chalked full of Michelle's FAVorite things, and it soooo put me in the mood to get my masculine side on and to get out all my color and get messy! I grabbed a selfie that my son, Draven had taken and got busy.

Layers of distressed and inked kit papers make up this layout.  I did some tearing and deep edge staining,  brick work, gesso painting and wire work.

I used Ranger Texture Paste with a brick stencil to create the brick walls, and  layers of the Lindy's Cajun Carnelian Red from the kit, Lindy's Denim from the Color Add On, and Tim Holtz Peacock Spray Stain  to get the colors. The top metal piece is a Prima Office Metals piece.

Here you can see a close up of the brick work and layers of color. I added a Tim Holtz faucet from my stash then wired up a TH word charm from a past kit and wrapped it around the faucet.

The strips are layers of the kit paper that I painted with Dina Wakley Gesso , and hit the edges and brushed over the top with the Tsukineko Rusty Brown Ink from this month's color add on. I then misted some canvas strips with the same mists in the brick work, frayed the edges and added them on. I used sheetrock tape to create the cross hatched wire look pieces, and added another stash TH Faucet piece with another wire wrapped charm from a past kit.

I cut out a chipboard clock and then inked it with the Rusty Brown Ink and hit it with some Vintage Photo Spray Stain, added some Tim Holtz Clock pieces, then fussy cut the title "Live A Full Life" from the kit papers and grunged them up and added it on with a Prima Office Metals Piece , set some eyelets and wrapped some more wire through them.

I love getting inky and grundgy when I am in the mood for ink stained hands!! This is such a FABulous and Fun kit and I hope you get a chance to grab one and scrap along with us!!! Don't forget to come show off your work over on the Scraps Of Darknesss/ Scraps Of Elegance Facebook Community Page. Hugs to you and yours ~Renea

An Amazing Heart Altered Book Box~

Hello, and welcome to my blog!! Today, I have an altered book box to share with you that I created using the following image:

The image was sent to me, by one of my scrappy friends, Rhue Chantel, who knows that I love to scrap ballet and Vintage photos. She got this beauty at Magic Moonlight Studio. You can check them out here:

Thank you Rhue for your sweetness and for thinking of me!!

I used the Scraps Of Elegance  Lisa's Love Letters Kit and add ons to create this box.  I layered in lots of the kit paper that I distressed and inked with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Ink.

Here you can see how I tore the image and then inked it and stamped it to give it my own look.

The Doily piece was a piece from the Elements Add On  that I topped with a  cut out piece from the kit papers that I inked up.

The Large flower was from the Floral Add On and that I added a Reneabouquets Timeless Rhinestone Button In Gold to. I fussy cut out little birds from the papers and added them and then tucked in some of the black tulle from the kit. The lace is Victorian Days Lace from my Reneabouquets.com and Reneabouquets Etsy Shop that I misted first with some Prima Tea Stain Color Bloom then misted it lightly again with some Prima Cotton Candy Color Bloom to get a really unique color to match my papers.
The handcrafted butterflies are my Reneabouquets Tiny Treasures Glamorous Butterflies.

The "binding" side of the book is covered in some music note washi tape that I over inked with the Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Ink.

I created "pages" using Ranger Texture Paste , and layering, and then inked over it with the same ink.

I misted the backside of the book with  Prima Tea Stain Color Bloom, then oversprayed that with Prima Cotton Candy Color Bloom. I then added torn strips of the music note tape, inking it heavily with the Vintage Photo Ink, and I randomly painted with Tim Holtz Distress Rock Candy Crackle, let that dry to a deep crackle and then inked over it with the Vintage Photo Ink.

The inside is finished out in stains for a finished look.

I just love creating projects that can hold trinkets and treasures, and these book boxes are perfect for that!! I hope you have enjoyed my walk through of how I put this one together, and I hope you have a beautiful finish to the week!! Hugs ~Renea

The Red Queen Tea Cup~

OK so, I just had to have a little fun with the Scraps Of Darkness January Kit~Karen's Valentine!! I put on my Mad Muse and came up with this Alice In Wonderland~Red Queen Tea Cup.
I love anything Alice and all the Queen of Hearts themed items had my thinking about the Red Queen as soon as I saw them~

I created a little tea cup from the kit papers, added some stash black & white trims and then got down to the fun stuff!!

I fussy cut out the playing cards and pocket watch from the kit papers, and the little Red Queen was a digital image, I found on line and fussy cut out. I added some kit flowers, and some texture roses that I hand crafted and then randomly dabbed with paint to resemble the painting of the roses in the book.

The Red Queen Butterfly is one of my very own completely dreamed, drawn and brought to life creations that I carry in my Reneabouquets.com and Reneabouquets Etsy Shop.

On the saucer part of the cup, I added more of the flowers and a sweet little cup from my Reneabouquets Tea Trinkets Pack , and a little heart key from my Key Trinkets Pack.

Thank you for stopping by to check out one of my off the page projects!! I absolutely loved doing this piece and I hope you have enjoyed it too! Hugs ~Renea

A Dancer's Heart~

We are half way to the weekend, and today I have a layout to share with you that I created with the Scraps Of Elegance February Kit~Lisa's Love Letters. It features a free Photo provided by Alexey Rysich on 500PX.com

I did a lot of fussy cutting, stamping, punching and layering on this layout to get lots of dimension and texture.

I started with a base layer of kit paper and then cut down another piece of the kit paper and punched the top and bottom edges.  I stamped some paper Doillies, layered those in and then fussy cut some desing pieces from the papers and added those on the sides.

I stamped some paper Doillies, layered those in and then fussy cut some desing pieces from the papers and added those on the sides. I then added a distressed and inked photo matte, distressed and inked my photo and added it on.

I did some stamping with a Prima brick stamp from a past kit.

At the top of the phto I added a Prima Fifth Avenue Flower, a past kit flower and little wooden bird cage from the kit, a Prima Clock Face  with some chipboard hands that I distress painted with Dina Wakely Gesso and then used the center from one of the kit flowers to top it.

At the bottom I layered in the large flower from this month's floral add on that I topped with a Reneabouquets Divalicious Rhinestone Button , some more Prima Fifth Avenue Flowers, past kit flowers and stash mulberry paper flowers, leaves and some die cut pieces.

Here you can see a close up of all the floral layering.

I hope you have a great finish to the week, and that you enjoy the weekend!! Hugs and happy creating ~Renea
